un interviu maaareee....enjoy

This December, Bill and Tom treated themselves to a few well-deserved days of rest and vacation under the sun in the Maldives. Arnaud, one of our journalists, was privileged enough to get an interview with them over the phone, in order to sum up and look back on 2007, a year rich in events. Interview.

Meeting

On a gray day in December, an email from the German management of Tokio Hotel arrives in my inbox, in response to one of my numerous requests for an interview. Because no, contrary to what you might think, even though I work for ONE, I do not have Bill's cell phone number, nor that of Tom. For every interview request, I'm obliged to go through a middleman and take measures that sometimes take a very long time. It all depends on the band's availability. But for the last few months, to my great regret, that availability has been rare ...But let's get back to this exciting email. In his email, my middleman, who I'll call Markus for purposes of confidentiality, informs me that Bill and Tom are currently on vacation on an island in the Indian Ocean, but that if I want to, I can call them at their hotel for an exclusive interview. "If I want to?" And how! Who could refuse an interview with Bill and Tom? Not I. Especially since I have quite a few questions to ask them about the year that just ended. I want to know how they experienced 2007 and what memories they have of all those incredible moments. Are you interested?

Long-Distance Call

Two days later, at the time arranged by good old Markus, I pick up my phone and dial a number that begins with an area code that I've never seen before. Good grief, where are these boys? I have a feeling my bosses are going to have a fit when they get the phone bill...There we go, it's ringing. "Hello, Arnaud?" a familiar voice answers. "Bill Kaulitz speaking. How are you?" "Me, I'm great. And how are you guys? I hear you're catching some rays under the coconut trees? Where are you exactly?" "We're in the Maldives," Bill replies with enthusiasm. "We're having a blast!" The Maldive Islands...A quick search on the internet allows me to visualize where the the boys are. Yes, I admit, geography is not my strong point. The Maldive Islands are south of India, about 8000 kilometers from France. I can hardly dare to imagine how much a vacation there costs... "So, how are you spending your days? There's nothing to do on an island, right?" "Are you kidding? It's amazing! " Bill replies. "We go to the pool, we tan on beaches filled with fine sand, we go surfing, we drink...Basically, we're relaxing, and it's doing us a world of good! Hang on, I'm going to put the phone on the table and put it on speakerphone so Tom can talk to you, too." Great! I greet Tom and ask him how he's been since we last saw each other in Paris: "These last few months have been really exhausting and we needed to recharge our batteries," he confides. "It's good to be somewhere where nobody knows us and we can walk around unrecognized. That hasn't happened for a long time. We're taking advantage of being able to forget music for a little and just do other things. I've even learned how to fish, and I think I'm doing pretty well! It's too bad that Georg isn't here, because, knowing him, he would have been really good at fishing for tuna!" The jokes of good old Tom...even when the Indian Ocean is separating him from Georg, he still finds a way to tease him long-distance ...Okay, well that's all very well and good, but I have an interview to conduct! Are we ready, guys?

The year 2007 was really busy. What event strikes you as most significant in terms of your career?

Bill: There are a lot...The concert we gave in Paris in July, right under the Eiffel Tower, was a big moment for me. To play in front of 500,000 people was both terrifying and exciting...I don't know if the fans noticed or not, but I was a little intimidated on stage that day...

Tom: I agree with Bill. It's rare, but for once, I think he pretty much covered it...As for me, our first concert in Israel was just as significant. I didn't expect to meet so many fans in that little country. We approached the crowd, and some fans even got hurt. It really left an impression on me. That said, it's true that it's hard to pick a specific moment. This was the year that some of our craziest dreams came true.

What rumor amused or bothered you the most over the course of the year?

Tom: The rumor where, on the night of his 18th birthday, Bill supposedly came out of the closet after having a little too much to drink...That made us cry with laughter! Even if it's true that our birthday involved a fair amount of drinking, as far as I know, there was no 'coming out' on Bill's part. Unless I'm not up to date. [Tom turns and addresses Bill] Hey, little brother, are you hiding things from me? Apparently you came out on the internet the night of your birthday...(laughs) The funniest part about it is that none of us have personal blogs...

Bill: It's true that that rumor gave everybody a laugh. Except that afterwards, I was the one who had to reply to all the journalists' questions about this supposed 'coming out.' And that, in turn, was not so funny.

What made you laugh the hardest this year?

Bill: A lot of times we'll have laughing fits after concerts. It's a way for us to relieve stress. When we're worn out, sometimes we'll spend a whole hour laughing like idiots at a really lame joke.

Tom: For that matter, I don't know why, but these are usually jokes about Georg. I have to say that once he starts telling us about his futile plans with girls, inevitably, we just collapse...(laughs)

Did you cry in 2007, and if yes, why?

Bill: Crying, maybe not, but having tears in my eyes, often. But only tears of happiness, during concerts or when we get particularly touching letters from our fans. I've also cried out of rage a few times. Like the day we had to cancel two dates in France during our last tour because I had completely lost my voice. I was so upset that tears came to my eyes. It was a terrible moment. And I swear I'm not just saying that because ONE is a French magazine and I want to be forgiven...

If you had to relive one day in 2007, which would you choose?

Tom: I'd say the day when Zimmer 483 was released and went straight to #1 in the charts. We were really anxious when they released the results and we jumped for joy when we heard the good news. Then, of course, we took the opportunity to celebrate with a party. It's exactly the kind of day I'd like to relive!

A small aside. At this time, Tom addresses his brother: "Hey, speaking of parties, will you pour me another glass, Bill?" Then, conscious that I'd probably heard what he side, he clarified, "It's just orange juice, now. Don't think that we're getting wasted under the coconut trees. That's not our style ..." But let's get back to the interview. I'm daring to ask a belt-level question. Tom should be happy...<

And when it comes to girls, was 2007 a good year?

Tom: Hang on, I have to think...[a few seconds of silence] No, actually, it's impossible to say. I can't count them all. Bill, you wouldn't happen to have a calculator on your phone, would you? (laughs)

Bill (to Tom): You're really a lunatic... (T/N: In this sentence he either says Tom is sick or crazy, I'm not sure which. I went with crazy because it's a little less strong.)

Tom: Okay, there we go, I've done the calculation in my head. In total, I must have gotten around 483 [female] conquests under my belt (T/N: Pun not intended...) in 2007. It's the number I was aiming for in the beginning of the year, where the album title comes from...Does that shock you? (laughs)

If you each had to pick one word to best describe 2007, what would it be?

Bill: "Grandiose." (T/N: I'm sure there's some more colloquial way to translate this, but I figured it was a word in both French and English so I didn't bother.)

Tom: "Beyond all of our expectations." It's impossible to put everything in just one word!

And what was the best present somebody offered you in 2007?

Bill: Without a doubt, I'd say the reception we got from our fans in all of Europe, and especially in France, where we feel at home every time we come.

Tom: Yeah, that's a stupid answer...For me, to be honest, the best presents I got came from girls. Do you want me to draw you a picture, Arnaud?

How do you see 2008? Is there an event you're especially excited for?

Bill: To begin with, we're going on a tour all over Europe. That will already be something. We're going to see our French fans again, and, as for me, even if I adore relaxing in the Maldives, I'm already really impatient to go back on stage.

Tom: Our biggest challenge will be to play at Parc des Princes, next June 20. It's a mythical and ultra-prestigious place, since very few artists have played there. We'll be the first Germans to play there, so I'd also like to say that the pressure is already starting to mount. We're incredibly proud and I hope that all our fans will be there to share the moment. After Parc des Princes, if it goes well, we won't have anything else to do but resign, because I don't see anything we could do better than that...

Bill: Don't say stupid things like that! Even after Parc des Princes, we'll still have lots of challenges to face. At any rate, we're not going to just stop when we're on such a roll. Did you drink too much orange juice or something? (laughs)

What would happen if the fans abandoned you and the stadium weren't as full as you'd hoped?

Tom: You wouldn't happen to have another question, would you? (laughs) If you start to pressure us already, we're never going to leave the Maldives! I like it here. The sun, the beach, the orange juice...I don't need anything more to be happy. Oh wait, I've forgotten one thing. There are no girls on this island! Or at least, I haven't found any yet. Now that I think about it, that's not normal. Does my legendary charm have no effect in the tropics? (laughs)

Bill: I think the sun has gotten to Tom's head...going back to Parc des Princes, it's true that there's always the risk that the stadium won't be filled. But we have confidence. Whatever happens, even if the concert isn't sold out that day, we'll give it our all, like we always do. Tom is going to tease me again and say that that's a stupid answer, but it's still true.

With these last words, our interview ends. So while Bill and Tom go back to lazing under the sun, I'm going back to work. Yes, some of us do have to work

Top 6 Fan Questions for Tokio Hotel by Canadian fans:

Over the month of January you guys submitted questions you always wanted to ask Bill, Tom, Gustav & Georg. Here are their answers to the Top 6 questions:

Question by Bensu S.
What type of girls do you guys look for and do you guys think personality is more important than looks or is it the other way around? Also what type of personality and looks do you want to find in a girl?

Bill: The most important thing is a girl's personality. I intuitively look at a girl's hands when I meet her for the first time. But, even the most beautiful hands don't help if our personalities don't go together…there has to be a chemistry that makes it work.
Speaking of personality; she has to be honest, funny and most importantly faithful. I can't picture having a relationship with a girl that doesn't have these qualities…especially faithfulness!

Tom: It totally depends on what I have in mind for the girl. Are we talking about a long term relationship or just a one-night-stand? In general I don't want to restrict myself to a certain personality type…doing so could lead to missed opportunities ;-)

Question by Chriasiana A.
If you could choose to star in any movie role, what would it be?

Tom: I really want to be Brad Pitt in "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" because I could have a relationship with Angelina Jolie and have the best sex ever....well, to be precise, she would have the best sex ever.

Bill: I think Georg wants to star in "Lord of the Rings" since his nick name is "Hobbit". He would blend in with the other hobbits and not attract so much attention to himself.

Question by Maria B.
Does it make you happy to see so many fans support the band in front of your hotels, etc... ????

Bill: Absolutely! For instance on our final Europe Tour concert in Essen, Germany, our fans cried because they were so happy to see us. They had posters saying: "Great to have you back" or "We missed you so much". It really touches me and it's an incredible feeling to be welcomed like that!

Tom: Our fans are not just waiting for us at the hotel or at our concerts. They are present all the time…no matter where we go. As a band this is the best feeling ever!

Question by Cheyenne
What is the best Christmas present you received?

Tom: The best present? I guess - this is probably true for all of us - we gave the best present to ourselves by spending our vacation time with our family and we really enjoyed ourselves…it feels like we haven't spent enough time with them over the last year!

Georg: Yes, that vacation was definitely it! We looked forward to that time and spent the holiday on some beaches with our families to relax.

Bill: We needed the time off and it was the only vacation time we had in 2007. Now we can start again with renewed energy since we're currently occupied with the planning and rehearsing for our upcoming concerts.

Question by CB L.For all my 4 TH guys, this may be a strange question but it is very fun and interesting. So, if your perfect girl could be any fruit, which fruit would she be? Say the first thing that pops into your head!

Tom: Only one fruit? Sorry, can't limit my dream girl to only one :-) I can tell you what fruits would be involved. Two beautiful honey melons and an apple which stands for a well formed ass. I think those are the most important ones that should be involved.

Georg: She certainly should NOT look like a watermelon.

Gustav: I agree with Georg!

Bill: I love pineapple, grapes and water melons - so some kind of fruit mix would be great!

Question by Cindy R.
What happened to Jumbi, your toy airplane? Do you still have it? If so, where is it now?

Bill: Oh yeah, I still have Jumbi. I guess you guys know him from the scene that was included on our "Zimmer 483 - LIVE in Europe" DVD. I learned my lesson from that. For the upcoming Europe Tour in March, we'll definitely bring more than just the one Jumbi along with us - just to be on the safe side. I mean our rescue mission next time might not be as successful as the one you saw. You never know, so we'll get some more planes and Jumbi will have some brothers and sisters ;-)

Author's note: It all started with a little joke...

“Ready?” Gustav asked.

Georg looked at himself in the mirror again. He couldn’t help but starting to laugh hysterically… again.

“Come on, it’s been 15 minutes, didn’t you laugh enough yet?”

Gustav was a little annoyed. The joke hadn’t even started yet and Georg was already dying.

“I still can’t believe they’re actually selling these things. I look disgusting.” Georg said to himself. Gustav sighed, he was almost running out of patience. He took his buddy’s arm and dragged him out of the bathroom, to the hotel room where Tom and Bill were watching television.

“What were you two doing in the-” Bill didn’t finish his sentence. His mouth fell open when he looked at his two friends.

“Wow!” Tom said. He laughed very loud. “Where did you get those?”

“Just ordered them on the internet. Some Belgian site…” Gustav answered.

“Cool!” Bill said, though he didn’t like the thought of these things being sold on the internet. “But Georg, you did the make-up totally wrong.”

Georg shrugged. He stroked his fake mane-like hair.

“Do I look pretty?” Georg asked, faking Bill’s smile and doing a little jumbie-dance. Tom almost choked on his gum. Gustav pulled his fake dreads.

“Really, Tom, I don’t understand how you can stand these annoying things on your head EVERY day!” he said. He took off the Tom-wig and laid it on the table. Georg did the same thing with his Bill-wig, though he would have liked to wear it the rest of the day.

“I’m gonna take a shower, we have an interview in an hour,” Gustav said.

“Me too,” Georg said, “I can’t wait to get this shit of my face.”

They both walked away in silence.

“To answer your question: You ARE pretty, Georgette!” Tom yelled after them.

Tom and Bill were alone in the room now. Bill took the Bill-wig and stroked it.

“So weird that they sell these things, don’t you think?” he asked and Tom nodded in reply.

“Hmm…” He took the Bill-wig out of Bill’s hands.

“You wanna try?”

“Do I?”  Even before Tom could answer, Bill put the Tom-wig on his head.

“Jeez, this thing is heavy.” Tom took of his cap and put on the Bill-wig. Both twins ran straight to the bathroom and looked at themselves in the mirror.

“I might have an idea…” Bill said in a mysterious voice. He couldn’t help but pulling the dreads the whole time, so the wig moved and revealed a few parts of his black hair.

“No way!” Tom shouted, shaking his mane. It looked quite funny in the mirror.

“Although… it might be funny…”

“It will!” Bill smiled. Tom nodded.

“Yeah, you’re right. Who cares about that stupid interview anyway?”

....

Bill and Tom entered Georg’s room, where Georg and Gustav had been waiting for them. Tom had to wait almost 5 minutes before opening the door because Bill couldn’t stop giggling for one single moment.

“Really, if you keep on giggling like a girl, this isn’t gonna work. I just don’t do that!” he had said to his little brother who had immediatly taken a deep breath before he knocked on the door.

Now they were both inside, trying to act as normal as they could while they were wearing clothes they absolutely hated.

“We’re ready!” Tom said.

Gustav threw a meaningful look at Georg. This was exactly what they had expected. Exactly what they had hoped for, to be precise…

“Why aren’t you wearing your piercing, Tom?” Georg asked Bill. Bill’s hand wanted to touch the eyebrow, but he changed his mind and touched the lip instead.

“Oh, jeez, I must have lost it…” Bill said. He hadn’t thought of that question.

“Okay,” Gustav said. “And you, Bill? What happened to your piercing?” Tom shrugged. Bill had just stolen his excuse.

“I think it got infected or something… It hurt a lot, so I took it out.”

Georg looked at Gustav again and they both grinned.

....

“I assume you are Bill?” the interviewer asked.

It was a woman. She wasn’t even that old and ugly actually. About 25 years old, definitely not older. Tom shook her hand and nodded.

“Yes, I am.” It was hard for him to fake a smile when his pants were so tight.

“Are you sick?” The interviewer asked, pointing at the scarf Tom was wearing to hide his dreads.

“No, just a little cold, the scarf is only a precaution. I can’t risk my voice since I’m the soul of the band.”

He smiled and ignored the kick against his leg.

“And you must be Tom?” the lady asked. Bill nodded carefully so the dreads wouldn’t fall off and shook her hand.

“Yes, I’m Tom. Do you want to sleep with me?”

The woman looked slightly shocked and didn’t answer. She just said ‘hello’ to Gustav and Georg while the four of them sat down on a very uncomfortable couch, the interviewer on a chair in front of them. Luckily this was just an interview for a magazine, so there were no camera’s.

“So, tell me, guys, I heard you recorded your German album again in English? Why did you do that?”

“It was not one whole album, we took some songs from both German albums and we translated the songs we want our fans to understand better,” Bill said, like he always did. Tom threw a warning look at him.

“Great!” The interviewer wrote something down, although she was recording the whole interview with a little recorder which stood on the table next to her.

“Was it hard for you to sing the songs in English, Bill?” Tom smiled. This time Bill couldn’t answer for him.

“Yeah, it was very hard. I’m very bad at foreign languages, you know.” He giggled. “But hey! I did it! Now I can be proud of myself for at least 15 years.”

He crossed his arms and smiled self-satisfied. The interviewer looked a little confused, but she didn’t say anything. She just smiled, nodded and wrote something down again.

“Tom and Bill… you are twins, isn’t it weird when your twin brother is more popular then you are?”

Gustav and Georg looked at each other, trying not to laugh. Oh, this was going so well. Even better than they had hoped.

“Euhm, you mean I am more popular, don’t you?” Bill asked.

“No… I actually meant Bill,' the interviewer looked at him as if she felt pitty for him. "Apparently he gets more attention because he is the singer.”

“Oh,” Bill smiled. “Sure. Everyone knows Bill is the popular one. He’s under such a lot of stress and he is still the best singer in the world. I respect him a lot for that. I know I couldn’t handle it.” He smiled at Tom.

“That’s so sweet!” The interviewer said, honestly touched by the words of the dreadlock-guy.

“Yeah, but you have to know I’m only good for the young girls. Tom gets all the older, prettier girls.” Tom smiled back at Bill.

“Okay…” the interviewer wrote something down and looked at them again.

“About Tom and girls: Is it true you had slept with more than 25 women when you were only 15?” Bill’s eyes started twinkling.

“Oh, no. Of course not! I just didn’t know yet what sleeping with a woman meant when someone asked me this question.”

He looked a little shy, but the smile of the interviewer encouraged him to go on.

“I’m not the Casanova people think I am, it’s just an image they have. But I would appreciate it if you kept that a secret.” The woman nodded.

“Sure.”

“I have a secret to tell too!” Tom said. The big smile on his face made Bill feel very uncomfortable in his pants.

“Yes, Bill?”

“I’m gay,” Tom said.

“No, you’re not!” Bill yelled.

“Yes I am!” Tom stuck out his tongue at his brother and smiled at the interviewer.

“Gay. G-A-Y.” he said. “But please keep it a secret!”

He winked at the woman, who looked like she had just done the discovery of the century. In the meanwhile Bill's facecolor had already turned into unhealthy dark purple.

“Yeah, my brother might be gay, but at least he isn’t a virgin like I am.” All eyes looked at the fake Tom right now.

“Yeah, that made sense…” Georg whispered, so only Gustav would hear it.

“Oh, and I wear these huge t-shirts because I’m fat!” Bill added. The interviewer shook her head in disbelief and started writing like crazy. This was going to be her best interview!

“And my nails are NOT real!” Tom yelled.

“Ooooh!! I can’t believe you-“ Bill started, but he stopped and tried to calm himself again.

“I think Bill should sing something for us. How about that new song we just wrote. You could use the lyrics for the interview, as a little preview for the fans,” Bill told the interviewer.

“No, I really shouldn’t… I think we should keep this a surprise.” Tom smiled at the woman.

“No, Bill, don’t be shy! You love singing!”

“Yeah, you really should sing it!” Georg added. This would be his revenge for Tom’s unstoppable teasing.

Tom started moving uncomfortably and opened his mouth, hoping the song would just come out. He hated singing. Eventually, he managed to sing a few German words and a lot of lalala’s. It wasn’t that bad actually, but the face was worth a million euros.

“I forgot the rest of the lyrics…” he said in a small voice.

“Didn’t you write them yourself?” Georg asked.

Man, teasing Tom was funny!

“No, I didn’t! You know I never do! But will you excuse me now? I feel very sick.” He coughed a few times and left the room. Bill felt very bad for his brother at once.

“I feel sick too,” he said. “Stupid twin-bond. I have to get sick whenever he does.” Bill sighed and left the room too.

Georg and Gustav didn’t say anything for a couple of minutes. Then they burst out into hysterical laughter.

“Oh my God, you were so right!” Georg said. He handed Gustav 50 euros and wiped away the tears of laughter.

“I can’t believe they didn’t recognize you!” Gustav said as he looked at the interviewer.

“Yeah, I know! The wigs from that Belgian site are the best!” she said. She was laughing too and took the black wig off.

“But I really have to go now,” she said. Gustav nodded and gave her a goodbye-kiss on the cheek.

“Thanks, sis, if there’s anything I can do for you someday…”

“I know, my dear little brother is always there for me!” She smiled.

“Yeah, I’m sure that’s exactly what Tom is thinking right now!”

And they all started laughing again.

Exclusive Interview: Tokio Hotel on Bill's Condition and Breaking U.S. Market

April 08, 2008 04:09:51 GMT
by Staff Writer

The latest teen craze and possible future rock icon, Tokio Hotel have sat down to answer our questions that may as well be jotted by their fans. Beside talking about their immediate plan this year, the German band also share some personal stories regarding their tour experience and how they handle their female fans, including how guitarist Tom Kaulitz wishing to reunite with the "beautiful ladies" in U.S..

Drummer Gustav Schäfer and bassist Georg Listing also highlight on whose music become their favorites plus reveal how each of them can actually never have one unanimous favorite. Singer Bill Kaulitz unfortunately is not available for the interview since he is in recuperation post a throat surgery and that was exactly the first thing we ask.

ASB: So regarding your canceled tour dates, what really happened at the time, did Bill start losing his voice when you guys performed in France?

Tom: Yes, unfortunately Bill lost his voice after the show in Marseille. The next day he left to see a specialist in Berlin. First he had to rest and after he saw the doctor for the second time it was clear that Bill had to undergo surgery at his vocal chords. He is fine so! He is not allowed to speak and laugh for ten days (laughing) and that's a real hard task for him cause he normally speaks all the time. Now he is writing down everything in a book - that's his way to communicate these days. After the ten days there will be an intense phase of vocal rehabilitation. The doctor is very satisfied with the healing process and is positive that Bill's voice will be the same after the whole therapy. Bill is really glad that he left the surgery behind him. He can't wait to go back on stage and perform!

ASB: For Tom, Georg and Gustav what do you guys do in the meantime?

Georg: We take the time to spend it with our friends and families and relax a little.

Tom: I'm with Bill all the time and support him. And of course we do all the work we can do without Bill at the moment.

ASB: When do you reckon the soonest time to get back on stage in compensation of the axed dates?

Tom: We are very happy cause we just approved a lot of summer festivals all over Europe starting in June. There are also talks concerning earlier dates. (Laughing) There's no doubt: As soon as Bill is allowed he will jump back on stage and we all can't wait to see our fans again. They were so great after we had to cancel shows. They showed so much support and love that we really want to thank them and be back for them as soon as possible.

ASB: Now that "Scream" has hit most part of the world and will soon hit U.S (May 6), what do you expect from the American fans?

Gustav: We just freaked out cause the album hit #6 of the Canadian charts out of the stand!

Tom: Yeah, this is really amazing. We actually can't believe it. With us it's not about expectations. We just hope that our fans do connect to our music and lyrics, that they feel it. (Smiling) I personally hope to be able to spend more time with all these beautiful ladies I saw on our first trip.

ASB: Do you find audience in America as loud as those in your home country?

Tom (laughing): Oh yes! We always say that it would be a nightmare to play in front of an audience that applauses and doesn't scream. We love that excitement. Our fans a very energetic, very intense - they are the best fans in the world. And we were really blown away when we found out that the U.S. fans are showing the same energy. We loved it and we can't wait to come back.

ASB: Have you thought of doing a collaboration with other American band? Which one?

Tom: We haven't done collaboration so far. But as they say: Never say never. But nothing is planned at the moment.

*kuch* Jonas Brothers *kuch*

ASB: How do you find time to write in the middle of the tour?

Georg: Writing is an ongoing process. We always find time to sit down with our instruments even on the tour bus.

Tom: Right. Sometimes I have an idea and play it to Georg. Or I go to Bill and ask what he thinks or if he has an idea for a lyric to the music. Or Bill wrote some lyrics we do the music to it. Bill writes all the time anyways. He is always carrying a piece of paper and a pen in case he gets an idea. (Laughing) You should take a look in his book, he's been writing all the time even now. There is no way to stop this guy.

ASB: What do you reckon the next album will be first, a German or an English?

Tom: Well, Bill always wrote in German. It's our native language and the language he can express himself and his feelings the best. (Laughing) And honestly our English is still way too bad to write in English. Even with an English speaking girlfriend, that would help a lot by the way, the songs will be written in German and than translated into English.

ASB: You guys won some prestigious awards like World Music Awards and MTV Europe Awards in 2006 and 2007 respectively, do you have more to expect out there after such recognitions?

Tom: We honestly don't think too much about that. But of course it's great to win an award.

Georg: Specially the ones that are voted by the fans.

Tom: Yes, cause it's such a great and intense feedback. But it's not that we sit down and think about which award we could win next. Everything that happened to us so far is more then we ever expected at all. Receiving a World Music Award, being nominated at the MTV European Music Award with all these big and great international artists that have been around for ever, sharing the stage with them that night and finally winning that award - none of us ever even imagined something like this a couple of years ago, when we sat in our rehearsal room in Magdeburg dreaming of a record deal. All we ever wanted is to be able to play live in front of people that like our music. Everything that happened till today already went far beyond our dreams. And it really feels unreal sometimes.

ASB: Tokio Hotel has been on many concerts, do you have special unforgettable moment in one of the concerts?

Tom: That's really hard to pick after we played so many amazing venues and concerts. There's always something going on that's really great (laughing) like the one show were people threw batteries at Georg. He actually loves it, so don't hesitate to keep on doing it.

Georg: Ahhhhhh!

Tom: There are always signs that make us laugh during each show - (laughing) I just wish there would be more signs for Georg.

Georg: Ahhhh! I'm actually glad that I don't get signs saying "Tom, f*** you".

Tom (Laughing): Oh, come on. That was in France and the girl wrote that sign in German. We all know that she wanted to say: "Tom f*** me" and I'm sure you pray for such a sign every night. But to come back to your question, playing in Paris in front of the Eiffel tower in front of over 500.000 people that's was an unforgettable moment for sure.

Everybody: Yes!

Tom: Being able to play three European tours it's unbelievable for us. And getting the chance to go to Canada and the States to play there, finding out that all shows have been sold out - that's still incredible to us and something that is totally unforgettable. That doesn't happen to a German band too often, you know.

ASB: "Don't Jump" music video saw Bill's character falling off the building, do you guys chip in ideas in your videos?

Tom: Yes, we are always involved when it comes to our videos. We always have a ideas in our heads once the songs are written and we throw them in and work it out with the director.

ASB: We've been curious for sometime, which musicians in both your home town and international league that inspire you musically?

Tom (Laughing): You know, Magdeburg, the little town we are from, is not really known as the city that brings out great bands.

Georg (Laughing): No not at all. And it's really not the place were producers and record labels would look automatically for talents to work with and sign.

Tom (Smiling): Yeah, we've been really lucky. But we actually never had an influence in that way cause our personal music taste is so different - we could never agree on ONE artist or band. I mostly listen to German HipHop. Bill loves Nena and he likes Coldplay, Keane, Green Day and Placebo - depending on his mood.

Gustav: I love the Foo Fighters and Metallica.

Georg: I listen a lot to the latest album of Jimmy Eat World and I'm still a big Oasis fan.

Tom: We always wanted to create our own sound, do our own thing. Our music was actually the music we all agreed on. And it came naturally once we started playing in our rehearsal room.

ASB: Last but not least, being a representative of young artists, do you have wise words to share to your fans here on AceShowbiz?

(Everybody laughs!)

Tom (Laughing): Unfortunately you are talking to the wrong people here! We hate people that need to tell you how to do things and how the world is running. We actually think that everybody needs to do his own thing, to find his own way and make his own experiences. That's what we always did. We had our own ideas, we wanted to do our thing our way. People can tell you so much and it will always be different. (Smiling) So if we had to give an advice it would be: do your thing any time and if you are a musician play as much as possible.
